A whir of propeller blades, a tilt of the head, a skyward search for the source. It's a reflex decades old that bears a nostalgic tint. My mind traveled backward through time last week when I heard the light drone of a plane thousands of feet up, the same sound I recalled as a boy. We must have lived along an approach of some sort then because the sound was constant. It's less so now in my current home. Maybe that's why the sounds immediately get my attention.
